    Dear Southeast Community,

    The Greater St. Louis Region is home for approximately 40 percent of Southeast Missouri State University students. Located just two hours from St. Louis, our University community has closely followed the process and events that led to the grand jury decision announced yesterday with great interest and emotion. As the events unfolded last night, I thought of the more than 300 current Southeast students and many employees who grew up in the Ferguson-Florissant vicinity who may still have family living in close proximity to the affected neighborhoods. Those individuals and their loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. ...

  • Service, Holiday Cheer at Heart of Southeast Student Effort

    OCC-girls with giftsCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 25, 2014 – In the spirit of the season, Southeast Missouri State University students put service into action, volunteering to aid Operation Christmas Child (OCC) in Cape Girardeau.

    Students in agriculture student organizations, including Soles4Souls On Campus, and members of Gamma Sigma Sigma service sorority partnered to fill 250 shoeboxes with gifts to send to children in Mexico.

    The students spent the past few weeks on campus collecting items to pack into their own shoeboxes and encouraged others at Southeast to donate. Last week, students helped pack boxes at the Baptist Student Center, which partnered with Soles4Souls on campus for the first time, and served as a collection site....

    STA-AgricultureKENNETT, Mo., Nov. 20, 2014 – Thanks to an Innovative Campus Grant, Joe Marshall Rouse, a senior from Campbell, Mo., is completing an agribusiness degree at Southeast Missouri State University-Kennett with an extra perk.

    “The Innovative Campus Grant has allowed me to finish my degree without borrowing more money,” he said. “As a result, I feel that I will be in a better position to enter the right career for me and my family, without having a financial burden from the get go.”...

  • Fault Line Film Festival Announces Winners; Screening Nov. 21 at Southeast

    CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 20, 2014 – Award-winning and honorable mention films will be shown in their entirety Nov. 21 at the Fault Line Film Festival Gala event at Southeast Missouri State University.

    The films will be screened at 7 p.m. in Rose Theatre.

    “Our festival has some unique and exceptional films this year,” said Dr. Fred Jones, professor of mass media at Southeast who teaches in the television/film option. “We have an original film musical, a post-apocalyptic thriller, and an animated comedy about viruses.  It’s going to be an excellent show.”...

  • Southeast Missouri Symphony, University Choir, Choral Union Presenting ‘Mass in G Major’

    VP-Music-SESOCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 17, 2014 — The Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sara Edgerton, will join forces with the Southeast Missouri State University Choir and Choral Union, conducted by Peter Durow, to present Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G Major” on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Southeast’s River Campus.

    The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.

    Also on the program will be the evocative “London Symphony” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and the festive “Blest Pair of Sirens” by Sir Hubert Parry....
