  • Southeast’s Online Graduate Criminal Justice Program Ranked Among Best by U.S. News

    EVT-iPadAcademyCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 30, 2015 – Southeast Missouri State University’s online graduate program in criminal justice has been ranked in the inaugural edition of the Best Online Graduate Criminal Justice Programs released this month by U.S. News & World Report.

    Southeast’s program is ranked 15th nationally and is the only Missouri public institution ranked among the top 35 programs.

    “This ranking reflects the quality and affordability of our online degree programs,” said Dr. Allen Gathman, associate dean for online learning. “The majority of our online courses are taught by the same faculty who teach face-to-face, and all of them are under the oversight of the appropriate academic departments, so we know that we’re delivering a comparable experience and the same academic rigor as in our face-to-face programs.  Our tuition is very competitive nationally. “...

    CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 29, 2015 — Anthony H. Cordesman, the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), will speak at Southeast Missouri State University Feb. 11 as part of the 2014-2015 University Speakers Series.

    The event, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of Dempster Hall, and will be followed by a reception in the Dempster Hall Atrium....

  • 37th Annual High School Art Exhibition’ Opens Feb. 8 at Southeast’s Crisp Museum

    VP-ArtCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 26, 2015 – The “Exhibiting Excellence: 37th Annual High School Art Exhibition” will be displayed beginning Feb. 8 in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

    The public is invited to an opening reception from 2-4 p.m. Feb. 8. The exhibit will be on display until March 8. Admission is free.

  • New Southeast Certificate Program Preps Students to Identify, Respond to Child Abuse, Neglect Cases

    CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 26, 2015 – Southeast Missouri State University senior Halston Hutchison of St. Louis, Missouri, knows that identifying the warning signs of child abuse and neglect will be critical as she enters the world of social work.

    “I chose to start the child advocacy certification because I plan to work with children throughout my social work career whether they are my clients or if I am volunteering at facilities that aid children,” said the social work major. “I hope this certificate will help my career as a social worker to know the laws and protection orders surrounding children’s rights as well as safety.”...

  • Gause Named New Chair of Southeast’s Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling

    UCM-CPGuaseCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 23, 2015 – Dr. C.P. Gause has been named the new chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at Southeast Missouri State University.

    Gause began his new duties Jan. 1. He replaces Dr. Ruth Ann Roberts who served as interim chair before retiring.

    Gause joins Southeast from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where he had been serving as associate professor of higher education in the Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education and director of doctoral Graduate Studies in Educational Studies-Higher Education. He previously served as associate professor and assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations. He began his career in 2002 as an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling and Leadership at Winthrop University in Columbia, South Carolina....
