  • Regents Considering Revised Fall 2014 Incidental Fees Sept. 21

    LOC-AcademicCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 20, 2014 – A revised fall 2014 undergraduate incidental fee schedule will be considered when the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents meets Sept. 21.

    The meeting is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the Board of Regents Room in Academic Hall.

    Also in the open session, the Board will consider faculty merit salary increase recommendations and lump sum merit salary recommendations.

    The Regents will then consider a motion to go into a closed session for appropriate considerations regarding legal and personnel items, and records protected from disclosure by law....

  • Austin D. Cordell Appointed as Student Regent to Southeast Board of Regents

    Cordell AustinCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 19, 2014 –Austin D. Cordell of Chesterfield, Mo., was appointed effectively immediately by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to a two-year term as the student regent on the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents.  Cordell replaces Kevin Magnan of Festus, Mo., whose term on the Board expired. Cordell’s term runs through Jan. 1, 2016.

    Cordell, the son of Carla and John Cordell, is a junior at Southeast with double majors in accounting and criminal justice.  A member of the University’s Honors College, he has been named to the Dean’s List every semester since he began at Southeast in 2012....

    “Show Me Day is an opportunity for individuals interested in Southeast to visit our campus and see the wide variety of academic programs and services we offer,” said Lenell Hahn, director of Admissions.

    “Students can find out about Southeast’s admission process, meet with faculty from our academic departments, and interact with current Southeast students,” Hahn said. “We are thrilled to have students and parents here to explore and experience our vibrant and growing campus community.  We want them to get as much information as possible during the day so they feel confident when they choose Southeast.”...

  • Southeast Recognized by U.S. News Among Best Midwestern Regional Universities

    CL-GeneralCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 16, 2014 – Southeast Missouri State University has been recognized among the best regional universities in the Midwest in the 2015 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.

    Southeast has been consistently ranked by the publication since 1993.

    “We are very honored that U.S. News has recognized Southeast in its 2015 Best Colleges edition,” said Lenell Hahn, director of Admissions.

    The ranking, she said, reflects Southeast’s “commitment to offering high quality academic programs in a student-centered environment with experiential learning, caring faculty and co-curricular opportunities.”...

  • CNN’s Anderson Cooper Presenting ‘A 360° Look at World Events’

    cooper_anderson2CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 11, 2014 – CNN’s Anderson Cooper will present “A 360° Look at World Events” as part of Southeast Missouri State University’s 2014-2015 Speakers Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in the Show Me Center.

    His presentation is a featured Family Weekend event.

    Tickets are required for entry. General admission tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.showmecenter.biz and the Show Me Center Box Office. Current Southeast faculty, staff and students can use a valid Redhawks ID to pick up a free ticket in the University Center Room 204 or the Show Me Center Box Office....

    CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 11 2014 – Families of Southeast Missouri State University students are invited to spend time with their student and enjoy the campus experience during a variety of activities on Family Weekend Sept. 19-21 at Southeast.

    “Family Weekend is an important weekend during the fall semester,” said Michele Irby, director of Campus Life. “It is an opportunity for our students to invite their families into their college experience and share it with them. For Family Weekend this year, we are organizing our activities into tracks for ease of finding events and programs that are of interest. Through a variety of family-focused activities we hope to open up the campus to our Southeast students’ families.”...
